CFLoquence: News From Your Library

Thankful for Books
At the Canton Free Library, we are thankful for good books. This month we are featuring books that have changed our lives, minds, and perspectives in some way.  Bev Ewart has created an interactive display for November that showcases staff picks and patron favorites. We invite you to share books that have changed your life with the community. Just stop by the CFL, pick a favorite book from our collection, and place it on one of the empty racks on our November book display.
Our Youth Services Coordinator Valerie White is thankful for the children’s book To be Like the Sun by Susan Marie Swanson, the story of a young girl who watches a sunflower grow and celebrates the miracle of life. Technical Processing Specialist Bev Ewart gives thanks for Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith by Kathleen Norris. In this book, Norris blends history, theology, and memoir to reflect on her spirituality.
Jon Stahl, our IT Specialist, chose Madeleine L’Engle’s classic A Wrinkle in Time as a book that has impacted his life. In this novel, Meg Murray embarks on a time-travelling adventure to rescue her father after his mysterious disappearance.  Assistant Patron Services Supervisor Sam McBroom selected D’Aularie’s Book of Norse Myths, a beautifully illustrated collection of Norse Legends that introduces the gods Odin, Thor, and Loki. Krista Briggs, our Teen Services Specialist, shared Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire. In this popular fantasy novel, Rice transformed vampire lore as well as explored the nature of evil.
Finally, I am grateful for L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, a novel that taught me it’s wonderful to be a quirky girl with a wild imagination. I recommend this classic coming-of-age story to patrons of all ages.
For more great titles, check out the display or ask our friendly staff. Again, we encourage you to share your favorites by placing them on the display. Perhaps someone will thank you for it later.
Thank You, CFL Friends!
